Lydia's 8th Birthday

Happy 8th Birthday, itty bitty Lydia!

Hunting for Easter eggs in our house.

Instead of a cake this year, Lydia chose to have chocolate fondue with bites of cake, fruit, pretzels, and more.

Aunt Liz and her family are staples at our birthday parties.

The view from our loft. :)

Jen's Work Trip

I had the privilege of returning to my alma mater for the Virginia Festival of the Book. One of my presentations was at University Baptist Church on "The Corner" (see banner above) and another talk was with Jackie Gingrich Cushman (shown below at our celebratory dinner in downtown Charlottesville, VA, after we were finished). I enjoyed seeing dear friends from my college choir, Jubilate, and meeting Jackie was delightful.

Fun Around Town

Tonight, we went out to the new frozen yogurt shop in town with The Bishops and Jen Chauncey

Reconnecting with the Bishops on a Wed. night at Jason's Deli. Russell was happily snuggled in with Anna (after having fallen asleep in their minivan).

I took Ross and Lydia out of school for us to go to Wake Forest for a few hours. We joined a service at Wait Chapel celebrating 50 years since the Civil Rights sit-in movement in the Triad. We were so proud that our dear college friend, Brad Braxton (above), delivered the inspiring sermon.

Myrtle Beach Non-Marathon

For several years running, we have traveled to Myrtle Beach, S.C. in February with friends. The guys run the half marathon. One year, another wife and I ran the half marathon. Mostly, though, we just cheer. This year, it snowed 2 inches the night before the race and the event was called off. JT and his buddy who had flown down from Rhode Island were quite disappointed. Neither of us had ever seen snow on a beach. It was fabulous!

The Breakers Resort

Enjoying our traditional lunch at Fuddruckers with: Kim, Bruce, Erik, J.T., Jon, Roger, Julie, and Jen.

Brownie Cookie Sales

Lydia has so greatly enjoyed he first year as a Brownie. Here is a pic of Lydia at her first public cookie sale (at our local grocery store). Trying to get me to hurry, she asked me to "Pick up the paste (sic)".

Pinewood Derby Cars

J.T. helped Ross make his racing ice cream cone car, then he made the cool cars below for Russell and Lydia to have.

Snow Day

On this snowy Sunday, we drove 3 miles to my sister's house and played with them.

Ross Spring 2010

I took Ross for his 1st ice-skating outing. We left everyone else at home and had a great time!

Ross is interested in becoming a professional soccer player.

Visiting the Children's Museum

Fun and chaos at our local museum. In the top two photos, my kids are sitting at a replica of our local Woolworths sit-in counter. The sit-in museum opened 4 blocks away in February.
