Fun Around Town

Tonight, we went out to the new frozen yogurt shop in town with The Bishops and Jen Chauncey

Reconnecting with the Bishops on a Wed. night at Jason's Deli. Russell was happily snuggled in with Anna (after having fallen asleep in their minivan).

I took Ross and Lydia out of school for us to go to Wake Forest for a few hours. We joined a service at Wait Chapel celebrating 50 years since the Civil Rights sit-in movement in the Triad. We were so proud that our dear college friend, Brad Braxton (above), delivered the inspiring sermon.

Snow Day

On this snowy Sunday, we drove 3 miles to my sister's house and played with them.

No School Today!

Trying out another ice cream shop during the Christmas holidays. This time, we invited Karen and Scott Bishops and their kids to join us at Baskin Robbins.

Russell's first trip to TCBY. He seems to be enjoying it!

Fall 2009

I made new friends at a beach scrapbooking weekend

Ross and Lydia took piano for one year in Colfax then we took a year off. We're so glad to have Mrs. Kemerer as our new piano teacher for Ross and Lydia!

This scene with Russell is all too common.

Halloween at home.

Throwing in a vintage photo here of my older two kids with their Bishop cousins in 2005.

Jen Chauncey had knee surgery followed by several sleep-overs in our guest room. She couldn't go home because her family was fighting the swine flu so we got to keep her for ourselves!

JT's Birthday

The Bishops celebrated with us at the bowling alley off of Wendover Ave.
JT got his favorite kind of cake: German Chocolate (from Maxie B's)

Below: Ross made a list of completed marathons for his Dad

Dot Pen, Pets, Etc.

Ross accidentally broke my favorite polka-dot pen. Seeing this, Lydia slipped away. She found me 5 minutes later and handed me a pen that she had wrapped with paper, punched-out shapes and tape. I'll keep it forever. That girl has such a big heart for the hurting!

********
Random stories:
Overheard snippet: Russell to Daddy "No I don't want to. YOU can go to bed." and later "No I don't want to. YOU can go potty... I went potty last weekend!"

Ross desperately wants a pet (remember the old story about how he asked to keep a dry, flat grasshopper? Poor guy! Now he's got a container of fireflies- out on the deck.

Russell was the victim of a misunderstanding... Russell: I don't like this TV show. Lydia: Me neither. Russell: I not a 'mean-ie'! You a 'mean-ie'!

Russell refused to apply hand sanitizing gel. When I asked, "Why?" (thinking it might have hurt a previous cut) he corrected me, offering the real reason for his objection: "Because it makes my thumb taste bad!"

Western High School

This is a picture of Russell from Oct. 2007 (when he was 1 year old) in front of our local High School. Russell enjoys going to this high school several times per month with Aunt Liz as part of her ministry work. Will he attend this very school in 13 years???

Russell sitting inside Western High School's lunch room with his beloved Aunt Liz. The origin of this photo?: A student took a cell phone picture and uploaded it to her Facebook page online. Aunt Liz then downloaded Russell's mug from the web and sent it on over!

Fun at Home

Uncle Bish is predictably a fun play date! Here, he 'flies' Russell while their whole family visited our house for dinner one night.

Gifts

Russell sings Jingle Bells.... Hey! (just like his Mom did as a baby). He also made up a song about Home Depot and WalMart. Oh, my....

Christmas morning memories: The Bishop girls did a great job of reciting the Christmas story, as has become our tradition before opening the gifts.

Russell was thrilled with his first full-sized basketball (from the Bishops). He used it as his chair, moving it and plopping down wherever he wanted to be. When Ross wanted to share the ball, Russell momentarily left the living room. He returned with a tennis ball which he handed to Ross, proclaiming, "That my ball. You use 'dis ball!"

The Bishops gifted us with neat cell phone charger/organizers. Bill got his first. I was so excited when we opened ours up later. Elisabeth chuckled when I said, "I've been wanting one of those for about an hour!"

Our Traditional Christmas in Charleston, WV

Christmas Eve we had the Moyerses (our Godparents) over after the worship service. Above l-r: Bill Bishop (Brother-in-law), Chuck Moyers (Family Friend) , Jim McCain (Dad), and Bryson McCain (Brother).

We enjoyed another delicious holiday meal with the Moyerses and their friends (one of these friends is shown with our family above). Pat Moyers must have been in the kitchen- I need to snap a picture of the chef next time!

A mixture of family and friends eating in the living room.

Christmas Day

Ready, set, go! 8 AM 12/25/08

Russell explores his stocking.

Christmas 2008- Anne Elise and Phil took their 2nd annual ski trip out west. Gamma and Pa made their first trip to Costa Rica. We spent an exceptional 7 nights in Charleston with all of the McCains. This was the first year having Honor, Bryson and Barrett right here in town- so convenient! We're so glad that Honor is having a good second pregnancy (she's with Ross above) and that Anne Elise is expecting their first baby!

Our Wed. Night Dinner

Our kids with JT and their two local cousins at Quizno's. We love that Aunt Liz keeps our kids so faithfully each Wednesday while I counsel my clients. We enjoy catching up with the whole Bishop family each Wednesday evening.

Halloween in Our New Neighborhood

Remembering our first Halloween in this new house (so many firsts!). Uncle "Bish" (Bill) and his family arrived in time for trick-or-treating.
Anna kindly came over and took our kids around the neighborhood. Ross was a crazy creature, Lydia was a dancer, and Russell was a doctor (outfit courtesy of my dear brother).
